Rule of 3

I am King Philosophus. Here I am criticizing our class!

I would like to suggest the implementation of a rule that I believe it is important to improve the performance of our classes: It’s called “Rule of 3”.

It was during a conversation with a colleague of us that this rule came up. It is wise. It is proved. It is THE RULE: “Do not talk more than 3 times during a lesson!”. The suggestion is: think on what you really want to say; think again for 5 seconds; then raise you arm and share it with others. There are several advantages associated with this rule: 1) You will put more thought in your comments; 2) You will give a chance for others to speak; 3) The participation of everybody will be more homogeneous; 4) We listen different opinions; 5)…

Let’s share more and different thoughts!

The basic rule is that if you have something to say, say it... I came here to learn from all of you, so I feel frustrated when I know that a person in the class is smart but doesn't share his knowledge with me. So, if you are too shy to speak, don't blame the others. To establish the rules of the class discussion, there is a professor, for instance Cost Accounting teacher did it very well last time...
For a Philosophus your rule is a little bit ridicoulous....

I will cite Big Nose Federico.
Monitoring is the first step to censorship, and censorship the first step to total repression

OH YEAH I like the idea. Really. Let's establish a system similar to the emission trading, like Carbon Bonds. Let's call them "Participation Bonds". So I can buy all 3 participation possibilties from my dear peers and participate EVEN MORE hahaha...

Oh, and while I'm writing this... pleassseeee start thinking while you post something on a blog. What kind of effect does a statement like "think before you raise your hand" have, hm? I know some of the smartest people in class don't participate because they are afraid that their statements are not valuable. The "problem" in our class is that people participate too few, not too much!!! So what do you think will happen to those shy people reading your statement? Hugh? Ouppsss... yeah...

So, and while I'm writing.. let me put something else. For me, I won't take any of those "please participate less" or "please bring more quality" comments any more. Of course, this post was not related to me in any kind of way. But it fits the topic I guess :) So. Really, they piss me off. I like you guys, and I know most of you want to "help" me or stuff - well.. I think when doing an MBA and getting good grades, I'm more than able to decide what to do and what not to do. Thanks. And btw, if you are really interested why I participate that much - because others don't!!! I'm dying of boredness because people don't raise their hands! Why do you think I participate not much in IS? Yep, because others do a lot! So thanks for the post again, intimidating others will help me once more getting out of the bell curve. In the upward direction. And to the quality issue - pls leave that to the professors and pls start participating yourself. And THEN we can talk again about quality.

Ahhh just got another great idea. Why don't we also introduce a rule of 2 for too late coming? So I can trade my punctuality!

*** of course I don't wanna attack anyone personally. Please get used to my sarcasm and German direct way of telling things (btw, the inventer of the rule of 3 should be German of the Year). But as you had only half the balls of coming openly with your statement, I cannot really attack you, cause I don't know who you are anyway! ***

Ok, now I go to class. Waiting for the annoyed faces in class when I open my mouth :)

So long...
Yasmina
